Canterbury Varsity is the annual sporting event between the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University dating back to 1999, when the very first varsity was a singular match between the two rival rugby teams.
Flash forward to 2022 and varsity is bigger than ever with 37 fixtures this year and is continuing to grow. Events this year include climbing, cheerleading and snow sports along with fun showcase events and night outs plus much more sporting fixtures and fun! Varsity has come a long way since 1999 and we are excited to share it once again with you after a year away!
Historically varsity has been an opportunity to raise money for fantastic causes! This year Kent and Christ Church will be raising money for Mind along with raising awareness for Stonewall through our rainbow lace campaign.
Canterbury Varsity is a true showcase of university sport whilst also ensuring that inclusivity and pride are at the very heart of the event. All students and staff are invited to attend the matches at both campuses, take in the atmosphere, support the players, and see the sporting talent that Canterbury has to offer.
